Grant Romundt, the CEO of Ocean Builders, is revolutionizing the concept of living with an innovation so extraordinary that it might make you reconsider life on land. At the Liberty in Our Lifetime Conference held in Prague in November 2024, he unveiled the SeaPod—a cutting-edge floating home anchored off the coast of Panama.

“Every SeaPod we place in the water becomes a habitat for life,” Grant explained.

Five and a half years ago, this vision could only be communicated through hundreds of digital renderings. Today, Grant lives in his dream home and shares photos and videos of real, fully functional floating homes.

“It’s so stable, you forget you’re on a home that’s completely floating,” he said.

During his presentation, Grant showcased the Alpha Deep model, which floats a few kilometers offshore. Packed with futuristic features, the Alpha Deep feels straight out of a James Bond movie—complete with a Jet Ski lift for seamless travel between seapods, a rainwater harvesting system that provides drinking water, and an underwater room where marine life comes to observe you.

“All the technological barriers have been overcome. We now have everything needed to make this vision a reality,” Grant declared.

Grant also shared personal experiences, like meditating with a 360° ocean view while dolphins frequently visit his SeaPod.

However, the next step lies in navigating a wild legal frontier. Seasteads remain undefined in international law. To pave the way for this pioneering lifestyle, Ocean Builders’ nonprofit is working to bypass traditional government systems and negotiate directly with businesses that flag vessels. This effort aims to secure a maritime flag for seasteads, ensuring the freedom of the seas for seasteaders worldwide.

Support the quest to establish a legal foundation for seasteading and help make this bold vision a reality!
